Any normal hard drive wouldn't be making these kind of described noises. From all the Google searching I've done it seems to be fairly common, and people suggest returning or RMA'ing the drive(s) in question.
Have you tried to recertify it as clocker suggested?
Go to the manufacturer's website and download their testing software.
"Recertifying" a drive is nothing more than running some software scans which test the disk surface, SMART capabilities, etc.
Some makers require that you run these tests and submit the results before they will issue an RMA anyway, so you have nothing to lose.
