You could try tweaking your speed settings to get the right mix, you may have max up & max down set, and this is affecting you in the way you describe.
Try starting with 80% max settings in both cases (up & down) and then increase step-by-step to get the right blend.

I have 2 gigs of ram and an amd x2 3800+ processor. The hard drive is a brand new 250gb 7200 rpm seagate external. It has to be somthing in utorrent, I am using azureus right now with no problems at all.

yea i think utorrent 1.7.2 is screwed up i get disk overloaded as well and it crashes everday so i just switched to azureus

Go back to 1.6.1 ever since releasing the 1.7's trackers have banned them left and right with one problem after another.

yea i would but 1.6.1 was reporting bad data for me and i got my account disabled at a few places lol so i "upgraded" to 1.7.2 and now it reports data just fine but i have all these other problems i didnt have with 1.6.1

Your damned if you do and your damned if you don't. I used Azureus before switching over to uTorrent to conserve resources on my laptop and that worked well. Perhaps sticking with that would permanently resolve these problems from reoccuring.

yea i dont really like azureus but i guess ill have to stick with it
