Look in the pinned verifieds section above this forum and you'll see the one you should be installing. You didn't say what you had installed now and that may make a difference. An HP computer wouldbe the upgrade from hell if any of the drivers could not be installed. Some other computer manufacturers also make it difficult by using Proprietary hardware that needs Proprietary drivers. These Proprietary drivers aren't included in windows systems unless they are made solely for your brand and model of computer. In most cases it's wise to partition the drive and install XP on the second partition untill all bugs are worked out and you decide if you like it enough to keep it. If there's any thing here you don't understand, look them up on google before you go any farther. you don't want to mess something up halfway through an install or forget something.
