Sounds like the Smitfraud virus.

Check that site out, it's got some instructions to see if it is or not. And, how to remove it including tools to do it.

Unless he installed any of these BrainCodec, PCodec or VideoKeyCodec. It's not the Smitfraud virus. Thats a Spyware Variant thats cause your desktop background to have fake (Bsod's). Just in case it is.

spybot will more than likely remove this spyware. i always have protection running on my pc to prevent things like this, and touch wood, not a problem yet (shouldnt tempt fate though lol)
