If you're really worried about your drive's quality, I'd go with a RAID Array; level 0 or 1.
A good level 0 RAID disk drive will spread about blocks of your files amongst itself and its friends in the array (other drives), evening out wear and tear from over-usage and also helping to improve performance through data striping.
A good level 1 RAID disk drive will also provide disk mirroring capabilities.
I'm sure you could find more about RAID technologies by looking through Webopedia.com, if you're interested.
To give you an idea of pricing:
Top of the line RAID servers (blackmount/point) go for about 15 grand each.
But top of the servers usually include 4 gigs of RAM (ECC), 2/2.4 terabytes of storage space, and P4 processor (3 gig).
You'll probably be able to setup a nice 200 gig RAID array for maybe 300 to 500 bucks.
pci ultra ATA 66/100/133 raid 0,1 and 0+1. suports hdd upto 128GB - 35.00 (excluding VAT) - available from CPC - www.cpc.co.uk
I wouldnt buy RAID or SCIS or whatever...i mean it spins faster..big deal and its smaller and WAY to much money..i like ata or w/e...get a good 80 or 120 GB one for cheap!
