    They (and I) also recommend certified PSUs. If you think about it, your whole system depends on the PSU, if it fails how much of your system will it take with it. Definitely not an area where you want to skip quality parts.
    You don't need a 550w for a single card like that one. Although if they are two, then a 650 should be quite good enough.

    It all depends on how good the PSU is and the amps rating on the 12v line mostly.

    Seems my mobo is dead from an initial look at it by a technician.. He said he'd be in touch with me by tomorrow (left the machine with him yesterday).. At the worst, will buy a new PC, in which case I'll be back for some serious discussion abou what I should get and for what price.
