Just for completeness sake
Command Prompt:
Start --->ShutDown/Turn Off Comp--->Restart in MS DOS MODE
navigate to your file using the cd command and delete using the del command

FKDUP74, I had the same problem, it turned out that WMP created hidden album art .jpg files for the songs I'd listen'd to in it, I don't know if this is what happen'd to you too but I was just saying. I use Winamp now though.
