    Players other than VLC also support MKV playback, with external codec pack (CCCP) installed.

    Just for info here are some standalones that support MKV:
    http://www.popcornhour.com
    http://www.istarhd.com
    http://www.hdx1080.com/
    Also Xbox 360 can play MKV with some programs installed.
    There are more, just search for NMT HD players.

    I don't know why you want to burn the MKV files...R u want play them in Blue ray or just to copy the files to DVD just to share and keep the backup...

    It is not clear... if you can tell it would be helpful..
