Kazaa is definately not dead, and I think the RIAA realise that. That's why they're running around spreading scare stories about people being sued or sent to jail.
Annoyingly though, there isnt a P2P program out there thats as alive as Kazaa used to be... Out of my last 5 searches, 3 of the files I wanted couldnt be found...

If only some developer out there could combine Edonkey, Kazaa, BT, etc into one universal client that could handle all the files.

It would be crazy, but imagine how many files you could find. And the bulky feeling of running more than one filesharing app at once would be done away with.

The sources of the files in BT are not hidden in any way unlike the FTN.
    You mean your IP address?
If I wanted to hack you through Kazaa, I would.

But just having your IP address doesn't do much.

The difference in security is not based on whether or not I can get your IP. Because it's easy to do, just go to Command Prompt and type netstat.

I'm basing security on the fact that BT uses an entirely different protocol and there's no centralized network.

    Plus, the speed issues.

On Kazaa, every file that hasn't completed holds IP addresses in the dat files. Which means, even if you aren't on Kazaa, your IP is still getting pinged by people looking for you as a source.
This can kill your connection if you share upwards of 5,000 files.

Of all the networks kazaa is my favorite, emule is just way to slow
The problem I have with the network is too many crap files ,not enough sources to connect to, fakes, anti piracy groups scanning you.

Who wants to download poor quality cams, clips from movies shitty mp3s and virus./trojans.Mind you it dosent happen all the time ,but dosent mean that it hasent happened...often enough to become an issue.
Sources vary in each location ,just because you can find sources in one place of the world dosent mean you can find sources in another, not to mention you can only download complete files and once you find a souce it can take a long time for you to download a new file.
For new movies days if not weeks ,for dvds a year old half a year; hours.

We have all had our fair share of fakes and the bogus files that are blank.
Everybody has been scanned by the riaa and the latter such of anti piracy,
Peer gaurdian is great but for the amount of notoriety kazaa gets its only a matter of time.Country by country will jump aboard the peer to peer seek and destroy.
Its going to take a hell of alot to save the network from the inevitable.

Most of the files on FTN are pornographic(not a bad thing).

But when it comes to count QUALITY downloads, such as DVDrips, telesyncs, high quality MP3s, and good, uncorrupted software, that number only hits 300 mil files.
    Don't use it.

Is it really? Because I looked at the source code and compared it to Kazaa, the algorithm kills.

But I don't know, maybe you're a professional programmer too?

Of course not, you're just basing it on downloads. That's not personal experience.
Stop flamming and if you are so expert rebuild KAZAA as you wish.

Will all of you "Kazaa dies" ppl either STFU or ask an admin to ban you from this forum!
All of us here are here because we love Kazaa Lite K++, and we dun bother listenin to you whinin SOB's.
Here is a great workin filesharin comb:
For smaller proggies: KLK++ (no worry if corrupted)
For bigger proggies: eMule (to avoid corrupted at least)
For cracks eMule (lesser virus, not had one)
    For movies:
a ) (Sharereactor) eMule then share on KLK++
    b ) KLK++ (great speeds)

Thats basically all I dl. So you see eMule and KLK++ can live in perfect harmony (until KLK++ get built-in corruption fixer and better hashes, then its byebye eMule )
Hold up a minute........In the past you could get all the files you listed above through K-lite...................now you're suggesting like 5 different programs!!

I love K-lite and at the moment it is still the best for single song downloads.

I don't think kazaa is dead, but I think it's pulse is rapidly skyrocketing

    Down.

Teqguy i remember in the past, the number of false named files was probably about 5% of what it is now, as well as the speed of downloads.

Not necessarily true. This forum is far more than a forum on Kazaa - as FC's often put it, it's a filesharing forum. I haven't actively used Kazaa in months now, as other programs have been "better," for whichever reasons.

things are quiet until hitler decides he'd like to invade russia
    so, he does
the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

Yeah, just recently mass amounts of fakes have been popping up, either because of RIAA aids or just disgruntled sharers. There are actually people that support the RIAA. I've gotten about 4 people that actually had the nerve to tell me off for sharing and downloading DVDrips and applications. Some of them go as far as putting fake files on Kazaa. Why? No idea, it's a LARGE waste of space, compared to the small amount of time it takes me to figure out they're fakes

For videos, use AVI Preview as soon as you're able to. Some large files, such as DVDs need to reach 10mb before you can preview them. But for telesyncs or files around 250mb, can be previewed within the first 2mb, for the first sign of video.

Just in case you don't get around to reading my other post in the General category:

Please become a supernode! Especially if you live in Southern California! We need more nodes or else more shares won't make a difference. The files need to be connected to the users by the supernodes.

Here's what I figured out theoretically:

For every sharer, we need at least 2 nodes to connect.
