    5 + (-1) = 5 - 1 = 4, not 6

    4/2=2, this is the x value

    5 +5 = 10
    10/2 = 5, this is the y value

    it's very simple, you are trying to find the midpoint of 2 points. it's in fact finding the average between 2 numbers. and it's the sum divided by how many numbers you've added together.

    Catracho, don't they have the answers in the back of the book? That's the easiest way!

    sometimes textbooks only have odd numbered answers or even numbered answers in the back of the book.

    damn book dealers trying to weasel out of the job...

    and also I hate it when they only print out the answers only and dont show you how the work is done. so you have to go out and buy books that show you the work step by step.

    that's what happened to me in my first year of calculus. the entire work book full of answer but they dont tell you how it's done. how are we supposed to learn?
