and why would msn messenger not work on your desk top??Originally posted by ZeroX9@14 October 2003 - 23:28
I believe Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (2001)
I have no clue.
It has not worked in months.
I cannot even get in it with Trillian.
When I try to log in it says I am using an invalid username/password but it is still active and a valid username/password.
Also, when I click on get a net .net PW it says cannot connect to the server..
Well, I will be back later, got to get off
Got school tommorow
(I'm going to read Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix (good so far)
=Edit=
Also, DirectX 9.0b won't install (it downloads.. just not installs)

windows messenger is an advertisement one looks same as msn!Originally posted by Sparsely@15 October 2003 - 03:49
the messenger service that can cause some pop-ups has nothing to do with MSN or Windows Messenger, and can be disabled safely.
Start > Run > services.msc > double-click messenget > Disable.

we're talking about two different things here, bro.
Windows Messenger is...whatever it is. A version of MSN messenger integrated into Windows XP.
The Messenger Service is
Transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers. This service is not related to Windows Messenger. If this service is stopped, Alerter messages will not be transmitted. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
