rite, but the thing is, the 5.25' rack is above the master hd, which is fixed under the 5.25' bays... i hope i'm getting this across. so how do i connect the top ide to master and middle to slave and still be able to reach the mobo connector, which is at the bottom

Move things around in your tower & or get longer cables. I just ordered a 24" rounded cable.

It doesn't matter which plug you put it on, whichever way reaches. It will work either way round.

hmm.... how do i move things around? i'm having trouble comprehending how to connect the top connector if the drive is under the slave...

Just keep your case cool, and run the fan in your rackl and you will be ok
