thanks. but what is the point of the pagerank thing? like, why would anyone want it?
Companies who pay google for advertising get a higher page rank meaning it is visited more no. of times than others.Have you tried the yahoo toolbar yet.It gives baseball, basketball scores;pop up blocker etc. [/b][/quote]
Not really. Page rank collects information from individual user to get the link whose statistics they sent back to the user. The page rank depends upon how many links land up to a site and how many go from that site.

should uninstall it, if you must have it, turn off page rank
page rank = spyware
Information Google Toolbar sends

The information transfer that takes place is not really sensitive.

what, may I ask are you referring the noise to?

Apart from all that, I have google toolbar and although i know the information exchange now is not that sensitive even then i have turned it off. It all depends how conscious you are. If you dont care about all that keep it on and if you are just too conscious freak then turn it off.

can't you understand the consequences of sending all the info they are collecting from millions around the world is a bad idea, no 1 company should, not even a 'good guy' like google, if you can't see that info like that going to ANYONE would be bad, I can't help you

I am very well aware of all the consequences. Your words only let me to the conclusion that you don't read coherently what I wrote so far.

There is no talk about "good guy" or "bad guy" the words you picked up from the spyware site you mentioned. I am not saying thats bullshit, i am only bringing the facts in the picture.
Moreover, I tend to present the facts so people can decide for themselves instead of pushing my opinions over them.

I can't help you
who cares.

I love the google toolbar, not only is it an easy way to search google, it’s also a very good pop-up blocker. Yeah, and you should disable Pagerank, it gives you the option right during the install,

So its not really spyware, Google does tell you and give you the option to turn it off, so really its adware.
You should try Opera. It has many built in searches: Google, Lycos, Yahoo Groups, MP3/Audio, Video, etc. Also has a built in pop-up blocker, and no spyware/adware.
