VLC for video and just to be different MusicBee for music, MusicBee is simple but has alot of powerful features.

Been using potplayer 1.5.36205 for video, and foobar2000 for audio.

Been using JRiver Media Center recently. Have to say, I really like it. Not only is it great for music (Playing, ripping, etc) It's also a damn good media server. Plays anything I throw at it. One of the best media programs I've used.
