Thread: Most Kazaa Users Don't Share Much

  1. #41
I probaly speak for all the 56k users on Kazaa or peer-2-peer networks in general, but a tiny slack should be given to us lowly dial-up users. I always share my files, even to leeches because they usually abort their downloads from me. I use Winmx and Kazaa lite; 1 thing i dont do is share files across different networks. That way my mp3s from winmx can be completely downloaded and shared to other winmx users. At least on Winmx, u can cancel and place leeches on your ignore list.

    bogus!

i don't think you can define a leech by how many files he/she is sharing... myself i'm only sharing 15 files right now. so am i a leech? you might think so but i don't. the files i share are recent movies that come off of irc and are all extremely high quality (or popular games).

In the past 18 hours I've never had a lull in my upload (currently 43kbs). so call me a leech but i think it's ridiculous to classify someone on the sheer amount of files he shares, if that were the case i could trade in one of my movies for 1000 mp3's and no longer leech

Did you even read what I said in this thread? Read it again.

And I couldn't care less if you or anyone else is a leech. I don't block leechers or anyone else for that matter. But FastTrack users don't share as much as other p2p network users and many people don't like that so they use other p2p programs.

ok. so i'm not a leech... but is there a way to measure how much a person is sharing as opposed to how many? i think that would be more accurate of a leech.

i dont care for movies because i can not get the big sound with them
as i can on real dvd`s
and its such a waste of time
but for mp3`s I crave that music baby.. Yeah...
Well it took me 2 weeks to share over 100 files and im on dial up
so you complainers have no excuse

But all they are getting from me is porn movies
I will disable them now because some people
might like some good music you know..

I usually have more uploads then downloads and most
of them are 3 of my collection of sex movies
harddly between of them i find somebody downloading music...

Don't do that. It is rude, adds to total bandwidth, and we've set a limit of only two post-whores at a time. Unfortunately for you, Neo and FC have had those ranks filled for quite some time.

Back on topic: I hope random nut does another sample or writes a program to keep track of it, because if those numbers are accurate it is quite sad. We'd need to do some major campaigning to help turn that around.

I once found the mp3's of Peggy Lee from album "the Man I love".. but since noone chose to share the files they downloaded.. it's impossible to locate these files... bummer! If you are the one that shared these in the first place, please contact me.. can transfer ICQ?

    Thanks....

I hate people who share too many files : it slows down my system when I retrieve their file list and sometimes freezes Kazaa.

Incase you are new to this file sharing thing. Use a search engine and get a file called
    freeripmp3

    http://www.mgshareware.com/frmmain.html

It is a simple, fast and easy way to fill your shared folder with cds you already have
so you don't have to be called a leecher and get canceled by other people.

    ciao,

    JM

How about mine for a different, and laudable(?), reason for not sharing.

I have just stopped sharing 2,000+ files. The reasoning was that quality was so often poor and that the same old stuff is just being churned around, getting re-titled and wasting time.

What I eventually found out what to do is to rip my own CDs, using EAC at 320 kB/s and AlbumWrapping them. Now all I share is stuff that is new to the network - all of it fit to re-burn to CD quality.

The same now goes for software. All I share is what I have bought plus some rare programmes.

Next thing - I restrict uploads to 5 at a time. This means that someone can get a complete CD from me in less than an hour! Is that Bad!!!

The reasoning was forced because my pc just seemed to run out of RAM.
