Haywire -- I really enjoyed this movie. Gina Carano as a female "James Bond" -esque character. Check out this movie sometime.

I've seen it several times and with each successive viewing the sense of how empty it actually is strengthens.Carano is great but not much else is ,especially how, owing to Soderbergh's direction, everything seems a tad off kilter.

So kinda both good and bad in being different.

Machete Kills, best death by helicopter scenes ever.

Still trips me out they overdubbed her voice. I guess it was "too girly," not enough smokes 2 packs a day and a fifth of bourbon grit.

I still go back to First Blood as a great action movie. The reason for me that this was so good is that you got to see the motivations behind the main characters and why they were actually doing what they did, instead of being meat puppets randomly running around shooting anything that moves for no particular reason.

The series took a definite nosedive into meat puppet land with the next installments, but the first movie was a refreshingly different action movie, and one where you felt the emotions of, and identified with the characters.

I hate to harp on about Jaws but it was just on TV and I re-watched it again and something that is oft overlooked in "action" movies is that what happens between the stunts is just as integral to the experience as when shit is blowing up.

    Case in point

Wonderful how the scene changes from Quint and Hooper comically one-upping each other to one of abject horror.
Also notice how Spielberg chooses to keep Dreyfus in the frame but slowing fading into the background.
Things like that don't happen by chance.
