RE: orangedog, yes. I used to have a totally free dial up plan, but it cut you off after 60 minutes and was only active between 5pm and midnight. Downloaded a linux iso and a copy of The Dark Crystal (replacing a damaged/faulty hard copy) over a period of 2weeks constant downloading.

The computer I installed the linux iso on still runs based on that original install, all be it with incremental updates/kernel rebuilds. Amazingly that hardware pulled from a skip still operates fine 15 years after manufacture! Rock solid uptimes too.
