nvidia kicks ati in the nuts when opengl is the matter

ati kicks nvidia in the nuts when directx is the matter

the reason why ati have better benchies right now is cuz the market leaned towards directx technology (because of being a more "commercial" type of tech)...

opengl pwns directx though...lets not forget that...

Also...what FPS is almost flawless? Like is 50FPS perfect almost..no flaws or jumps?or do I even need 50FPS?

yea 50fps is quite perfect it would also be good as long as the fps is over 35 or so there shudnt really be any jumps or anything

but i prefer 40-50 for perfect
    higher is better B)

well i think i jus learnt tht Open GL and Direct X are 2 diff things
i thought tht open gl and direct x sorta worked together or sumthin

i jus noticed sumthin between the mobo only one of them hav a section for overclocking the 109 doesnt hav one? is it still possible to overclock?

my remark saying that opengl kicks directx is this:

opengl allows the so-called "low-end" gfx cards run games that have REALLY good graphics.... an example of an opengl game is Call of Duty. Its graphics are REALLY good yet the game can run on my mx440 + my tnt2 riva.

however, the case of games being of directx nature, is why we see all these video-card threads lately.... we need ANOTHER graphics card to play new games. Thats why directx is so popular in games now: it makes ppl buy MORE AND MORE cards...instead of keeping their old geforce4 mx cards running the newest games...

this is why ppl always say that you "wont need the 128mb or the 256mb in a long time".... but directx's mediocre engine makes us go the other way....

v0od0o is gonna come out with the "voodoo6" card (nvidia company), which is gonna take opengl back to the top and stay there....

btw... another examples of games using opengl:
    Quake 1-3
    Half-Life (well this supports both)
    Return to Castle Wolfenstein
    RTCW - Enemy Territory
    Call of Duty
    MOHAA

and they are all GOOD games

    yea good info

so its hard to argue between the 2....cuz both hav good side and bad side....

so the fx5600 will work with all of the new games right? (half life 2, DOOm 3)

ohh ok. Well OpenGL sounds good and all..but how the hell does it operate to where an old not so good graphics card can play awesome games?

Is voodoo a separate company from ATI and Nvidia?

AWESOME ABOUT THE FPS!!!! Thats means I can play Battlefield 1942 with MAX resolution and 4XFSAA and 8Xanisotropic, and still get 62FPS

yes the 5600 should be FINE.

Also, DWK...are you saying that a FX card that has opengl will run just as good as an ATI card that is alot faster, because of gl on any game? or is that just on OpenGL games?

all cards right now (both nvidia and ati) are opengl and directx compatible AND compliant. This means that they both run the games well. However, nVidia renders opengl games better than ATI's cards..... ATI renders directx 9 better than nVidia...

    no card "has" opengl....

what games are you planning to play?
