I got a laptop(tempory) with win 2000 installed and a pc with XP Pro. Is is possible to connnect the two through a LAN network. Both got networkcards.
When I tried to install a network I use the setup floppy made during the setup on the pc(XP).
When I tried to use the floppy on the laptop I got the message that it Dont reconize XP.
The pc is NTFS and laptop FAT32.
Any Tips if a network is possible between the pc and laptop

didnt even know that win2000 allowed fat32...
ok...first make sure both computers are in the same Workgroup
in xp, rightclick my computer->computer name->change-> then put a workgroup you like ("home" would be just about fine)
do the same in win2000 (im pretty sure its about the same thing)
now in xp, goto start->control panel -> network connections -> right click your network card -> properties... then double click tcp/ip properties.... and type 192.1.1.1 on the IP, and 255.255.255.0 on the subnet mask.... leave the other blank
on the win2000 computer, do the same, but leave the IP at 192.1.1.2
now share files and enjoy
