I use FreeRip to rip my CD's at 192 CBR. Admittedly, when I first started downloading mp3's and ripping them, I was doing so at 128. I've since replaced these files with 192. The difference is amazing.

also I'm sure it matters for the poor 56kers
hey, whats up? no vote for average birate?
or should i just stfu and vote for vbr?
(i set my rips at 192-256 ABR)
(oh, mp3 lame, of course)
I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down.
CBR 192 for me too.. (or higher is even better)
Variable bitrates suck to my opinion.
Most people (they say) won't hear the difference but i sure do.
Nice poll btw. I alway's wanted to know what people think about that VBR stuff.
And CBR 192 is winning i see.. GOOD!
(people are really using their ears happy to see )
i voted for VBR because of the new rip kit that i am using.
I knew you would say thatOriginally posted by KwahyaJ@16 January 2004 - 18:38

VBR sounds to flat to me
and BTW GS I'm surprised 128 isn't on there as an option
allot will still do 128
No way.Maybe 160.....maybe.But not 128.56kers have big harddrives just like everybody else.Originally posted by Adster@16 January 2004 - 05:21

I didnt want to have the 128 Just Because somewone still uses it.Originally posted by Guitar-Slinger@16 January 2004 - 05:53
Added Windows Media Audio at 64k for Low-End users,
CBR 128k users can click on WMA64 for it is the same "Quality"
I hink one reason for it is this:
In many audio-ripping-softwares the RipRate is By Default set to 128k,
one needs to go to Options etc to change it.
Well, atleast thats what i can think of now.
If someone needs to vote for 128 for whatever comical reason,
please use the WMA64.
You also have to come up with atleast 3 excuses Why 128/WMA
actually is your choise then,
Please notice that ripping or promoting that low quality audio-files
will most likely get laughed at in this Poll.
Cheers:

Spoiler: Show
I selected CBR 192 because thats what I'm ripping and sharing my personal CD collection as.
But when contributing to OCR I'm all VBR
I can't believe this poll wasn't done earlier
great idea
