I'll have to agree with the MPC
They've got the best compression/filesize/quality ratio there is.
Next to that, OGG, then MP3.

Of course, I still encode to mp3, as it's got a much larger userbase, and damn near everything can play them now.

i do love my high quality mp3's but they still cant compete with some of the new lossless compression file formats

shn, ape and flac are starting to be trading alot more since people are getting faster connections.
