I think that the reason that the spanish guy didn&#39;t make it was because they probably thought he was a phony. I guess its not only singing talents, but many factors like Showmanship, Stage presence, good looks, and a overall projection of wholesomeness and good example (sort of like Kelly Clarkson).

They want the "idol" to be someone that could be looked up to. Not someone that would be a bad example to the younger folks.
