Hi guys,
I think I saw a thread about it on this forum, but now that I need it, I can't find it any more.... And I swear I looked
Here's the ?: how to get rid of the software options that appear when you right click on an object in explorer..
Like, I have a new AV -AVG 6.0. So, I don't use my PC Cillin 2002 any more. I just keep it on my C: drive as a backup AV, not running. But it still shows up when I right click on an object... Annoying....
Same problem with this other prog I have, Windows washer 5.0. It's useful, but I don't need it to prompt "a Wash with bleach option" whenever I right-click on sthg...
I looked into both progs' settings but couldn't find anything.. I
I stilll hope sthg can be done about it.
Thx in advance

Sometimes you can disable them showing up in the right clik - by going into the actual program and disable "shell integration" feature.
With Registry Cleaner-goto shell extensions and remove those items which annoy you -such as "bleach with...."

The Registry way is :
- Click on the start button, click on Run... and type the word "regedit" (without the quotes) in the box that appears to open the registry editor
- Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts"
- Find the extention you wish to edit and click on the "+"-sign to locate the key that says "OpenWithList"
- In the right pane of the registry editor you´ll see a list with the programs in the list, like "paint.exe" or "notepad.exe"
- Simple click on the one you wish to delete and press the delete button on your keyboard
that has nothing to do with the context menu items they wish to remove .

in the registry
you can find the context menu associations
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.....\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers\

still not it.......the best way to remove them is to search for the text (such as "Wash with bleach") in the registry and delete what the search finds. the location in the registry for context menu items varies from item to item.

Get tweak ui. It has an option to remove the programs in the right click menu.
Dont screw your registry up trying to fix something as minor as that.
