ok...i have a question. can .avi files play on a dvd player? i've been using MPEG but someone said avi files can be played on a dvd player. i was just wondering if it could or not.

Some play DivX only no other formats as far as i know thats why the codec encoder has setting for this like Home Cinema and stuff like that.

There are only a few that can play MPEG-4 (DivX, XviD, etc.) files.
But if your DVD drive supported that you would have know. Ergo, yours doesn't support it

An Xbox with Xecuter2.2 + Xbox Media Player can play all the video files that a PC can!

I read a review of a DVD player with an upgradable chip, so you can upload new codecs to it.
