For satellite, all you need is a dish on your roof and a clear view of the southern sky. And yes, it's faster than IDSN and slower than DSL. It's pretty expensive ($600 setup + $50/month in New York), but if it's your only choice, go for it.

    hey,
i found this list of equipment on a site:

    PCI Satellite Receiver Card
    60 cm Satellite Dish
    LNB
    Cabling & Connectors
Mounting Hardware for the Satellite Dish

Now im guessing i dont need the Satellite dish, the Mounting Hardware for the Satellite Dish or the Cabling and connectors but i figure the PCI Card is the "reciever" but what is the LNB????

You could also try wireless http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-threads.cfm?f=18 which is expanding in Australia, list of wireless isp's on the bottom http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/bc-isplist.cfm of the page

The cheapest Satellite your find is http://www.ihug.com.au/getultra/satellite.html http://www.ihug.com.au/business/plans.html or http://www.bordernet.com.au/

There' s an unlimited account with ihug but the speed is only 128k, the same as ISDN except with the latency...

One way Satellite is the cheapeast with dial for upload connection...

Two way is expensive as hell.....

You could have ISDN 128k as upload path but that's expensive, extra phone line rental, isdn installation and $16.50 infill(which pays for all ISDN calls)

Satellite in Australia for p2p isnt great due to download caps
