Firefox uses the Gecko engine.

netscape uses gecko so i call it the netscape engine

    It's the Gecko engine
    Netscape engine

Both use the Gecko engine, thus Netscape is not an engine, just a browser, powered by the gecko engine.

@atiVidiaI -- I can see why you may have been sadly mistaken. For a while Netscape owned Mozilla and all rights to it, until Mozilla created their own Foundation in 2003. Now Mozilla Foundation is funded by Mozilla.org and other outside contributers instead of Netscape.

If you insist on calling it the Netscape engine, then why not call it th AOL engine since Netscape is owned by AOL :

Oh the sheer humanity of it all! :'(

Now I remember why I never touched Netscape to begin with.

AOL and I have a very distinct understanding: they promise not to bother me or my PC with their crap software and I promise not to sic my big doggie on the mailman every flippin' time he tries to deliver one of their browser sign up discs to my mailbox.

True, you can call it what you want, however, the term is not correct.
