I dont think you can remove the vocals on a mono recording & you will never remove them completly with removing other intruments, ie it the bass drum has been centered then you will also remove the bass drum while trying to remove the vocals. You can remove any instrument you want if you can centre on it. Get SoundForge, it's the best for editing audio files.
