Here's one way to tell, theres another way to tell what your version is but I can't remember.
Just take a look at the back of your PS2, see that white strip with the numbers on it? It should start off with something like "PT3654656 or whatever, the first number is the version number of your PS2, so in this case 3.
are you sure d00d? i know for a fact my is a version 7 (i never heard of your way of telling a ps2 version) and so i checked my number and it has a 6....my ps2 is not a v6...

hmmm, it's possible, mine is a version 2, i know that for sure, because i went to see bout getting it modded, and 2 friends of mine have a version 3, and a version 7, and the numbers match on each one, and thats the kind of modchips they got, some guy at a store told me that was an easy way to check out your version number so thats what I go by, haven't had a reason to doubt it til you told me that, so I don't know.
