A friend of mine registered into this forum thru my pc a few days ago.
Due to a misunderstanding (they thought he was a recently banned person)
    he got banned.

I could no longer get into this forum using Firefox
but if i used IE it was no problem
until he logged in using his name

anyway hes unbanned - but i dont understand the Difference?

I thought such "banning" thing worked on ip numbers or pc "name"

    why is this?

the only thing i can think of is there is a cookie that is stopping you from accessing the forum
There are 10 types of people in the world those who understand binary and those who dont

    The ban has been removed
and yes i cleared all the cookies while Firefox was banned
    din\t do anything

So iguess if your blocked in IE and Firefox you can always go over to Opera

But i still dont understand how this ispossible

Firefox may have been configured to automatically log the banned person in to the forum. In options ->privacy -> stored passwords ?

Only thing i can think of is that for some reason your 'session' on the board hadn't ended somehow, perhaps you didn't shut down firefox between the banned person logging in and you trying? I think that could do it, but i'm not sure.

Edit: Afaik the bans are done on a username basis at first, but if the person keeps on signing up the ban is extended to ban your ip address (if you have a static ip address).

Im sorry but i think you misunderstood my question.

I am nolonger banned, this happened a few days ago
I would like to understand how it is possible that you can be blocked in one browser yet not in the other?
Shouldnt a "ban" automatically block anything coming from your pc?

Yes i removed all cookies, psswrd, httpcache while in ban yet it was still blocked.
