I just got this Athlon XP 2500+ Barton Coreand currently have it overclocked to 2.23 ghz. just get yourself a stick of 512 mb pc3500 ddr and you'll be all set. unless you have dual channel then get a dual pack 2x256mb.

instead of the motherboard with the SIS chipset i would try to get a board with the Nforce 2 chipset. its much better, imo, more features and better performance. the asus A7N8X is a good example.

Yea, in my first post i had an nVidia chipset, thats why i got the 5200, but it was in a combo deal so i changed it for the other board for a lower price.

Yes.

My understanding is however , makers claims notwithstanding, many boards have trouble with the 1 gig sticks...better to use 2x 512Mb instead.

never new dat
i would build 1 if i knew how and where to get the parts.
i could build a desktop dunno about a laptop only seen in side one once and it was about 5 years a go with a old crapy laptop that didnt work.
