Watch out using Novasearch. AV picked up potential virus when trying to open a pop-up. Didn't get detauls, well actually AVG had no information on the virus.

Surely it's best to just install some kind of pop-up blocker?

Unless you've run most/all the latest windows/IE patches, it's possible for a web page to use a script to FORCE a download-and-run on your computer even without using a pop-up. Blame Microsoft's accidental bugs for that, not their malice.
