This topic was pretty much a case of "what level am I looking at (in terms of both cash and ability to play DX:IW)?", "what manufacturer looks to be the best to produce it (this can vary per card ), and "what's the lowest price anyone's seen it at?"
Reason enough to remain open; requesting specific not just in general as most are. Continue the research
Agreed

    and...

there is a 5600 by nvidia which is the next level up from a 5200. You can check out the performance increases in the pinned topic.

I've been having a look at the 5500 and it's got some decent reviews - But I can't find an online store for it anywhere Got a site that sells them ati? I need to check its price compared to FX5200s

there is no geforce FX 5500, and the latest ATI cards are all in the 9xxx numbers.

    no 5500 in there.
d00d, if xbitlabs and others have one, then it exists

actually, there is a chance that the web site hasnt been updated, or that it has been renamed, but according to google AND xbitlabs, it exists. now shut up and go back into your hole

btw, atiVidia is better than nVidia. plus, if it can be purchased, then WHY ARE YOU ARGUING??? they didnt mention the 5900xt until 1 month after it was released so

    EDIT:

Nope - I'm just waiting for you and Rocco to cool it down or take the argument to its own thread

Seriously, it looks like there was/is an FX5500 chipset but the fact that it's omitted from nVidia's list is a bad omen IMO - Most likely the chipset was created but has since been discontinued (which would show why some sites show it but most don't at all). Either way, I ain't gonna risk it

Which means that the main choice is still PNY's Verto GeForce FX 5200. Any others that could be [more/just as] suitable? (Feel free to recommend cards with price tags going towards £40 above the Verto's price if you guys want )

Though I have to admit that the thread has been mainly about the nVidia GeForce FX (not that I'm complaining, being an nVidia fan and all ), but it's always worth looking what else is available . I'm going to have a look at the ATI equivalents - Anyone got any recommendations on the ATI front?
