    sorry uNz[i], i missed this

    i just took a full screenshot, without the alt key, then cropped it to the height and max width, then used the rectangular marquee to select the parts above and below the pop-out and deleted those back to the transparent bottom layer.

    the 'duplicate' image is a good idea, tho' i still prefer to just drag&drop from the layer palette once they're linked+merged, rather than copy/paste

    Ahh.. of course! I should have realised thats how it's done. Thanks!

    Good work reminding me about linking layers too. B)
    I learned the technique during an Adobe course a couple of years ago, but had forgotten all about it.
