    Aha! Found the answer.
    This explains the problem. It's just that Invision 1.3 doesn't work fully with php5. Unfortunately, Invision 2.0, which does support php5, won't install. I guess I'll have to be happy with something less that the absolute latest version of everything. Thanks for the advice, all.
