how can u see what codecs u need for something ur downloading at the current time???

Install the k-lite codec pack n you should be fine mate.

You can try to make a copy of the partial file. Rename it to .avi and load it in GSpot.
If you have at least the first piece of the file completed, then GSpot should be able to identify the codec that you need.
But the K-Lite Codec Pack contains all widely used codecs. So I doubt you need more.
You can 'preview' partial files with VideoLAN.
