It&#39;s actually not fascinating.


I have to run telephone cable from the 3rd floor to the parking garage level to the main telephone room.
The main telco room has the underground cable coming from the central office (where all the numbers come from in a given area).

I then run cross connect wire from the main telco cable to the cable that I ran (with a junction of course) and that sends the telephone numbers to the 3rd floor.

I told ya.

It&#39;s basically grunt work.

The only thing nice about the job is:

Once you are a telecom technician, you can work anywhere. Even after I retire from here, some business will need the expertise.

There is alot of adventure in this job, especially in DC. I go EVERYWHERE here....except the White House (they have their own techs from our company).

T1&#39;s are a hot commodity, along with DSL. These big business depend HEAVILY on them. There is some satisfaction in providing service but in the end...give me my paycheck.

btw I actually get tons of work done. It&#39;s I sometimes have slow periods when I&#39;m waiting on the Central Office to wire my lines (to send them outside).
