My vote goes for "The Last Samurai." It's a very good film.

Some great movies but Mystic River just shades it for me.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 was the best movie by far! Though it didn't have as much action as the first, the diolgue was so perfectly written, every single line added demensions of depth to the characters. And the way they developed the villains as much as the Bride made the action so much more dramatic, because she wasn't just killing words in a script; she was killing people. Last Samurai was awesome, but it wasn't as groundbreaking.

Of those I've only seen Passion of the Christ and Gothika, and POTC was the better.
So far the 5 best movies I've seen this year would be:
    I Robot
    Shrek 2
    Harry Potter 3
    Spiderman 2
    Shaun Of The Dead
    in that order.

The worst would have to be King Arthur.
There isn't a bargepole long enough for me to work on [a Sony Viao] - clocker 2008

SCREW THEM ALL!!! The Butterfly Effect was by far the best movie!!
it's a completely crap ripoff of Donnie Darko. shoulda been called "Dude, Where's My Time Machine?" but there are already two other "Dude, Where's My Time Machine?"s: Bill & Ted (the good DWMTM) and Timeline (the bad DWMTM). with some parts ripped off from Slaughterhouse Five, for good measure. and enough suffering to qualify ashton kutcher for sainthood via martyrdom, along with everyone who suffers through watching it.

now for some anti-trucker rhetoric: the actress who played ashton's mother in Butterfly Effect? only ten years older than him. demi moore is older than that, maybe they should have cast her in the role since she's actually old enough for it lolzzz1. when he raised his plastic arms and told his mother that he was going to save her from cancer, i looked at the expression on his face and laughed out loud: "what is this, a time-travelling Candide for 13 year olds and mouth-breathers? in the same way that the Matrix is a kung-fu Philip K Dick for... uh... 13 year olds and mouth-breathers?"
