Big deal...heard all this crap talk about how kazaa is in trouble its just scare monger tactics. You got more chance of winning the lottery then getting caught for sharing so forget it...

Hey just cause some of us including me like to rip a CD and then share it don't mean were like bad or something. But every P2P program has had porno on it. Even File Topia has it and nobody says a word there. The people who own it in the first place are responsible not the P2P program.

LOL I actually watched the whole congressional thing on cspan.
what I found hilarious was seeing the media defender guy sitting right next to the CEO of grockster.
that was a once in a lifetime picture.lol

Its no accident they're reporting something so inane and irrelevant -- this is a smear campaign, CNN would never report a heartwarming story about how Kazaa users are contributing to society or democracy or capitalism, its against their interests.

I think the association of P2P with porn on CNN is more calculated than most people realize, and should not be treated lightly. CNN is part of a huge media conglomerate, and has a vested interest in stopping copyright infringement. And it just happens to be the most influential news network in the USA, probably the world, and its coverage has vast influence over public opinion.

What the media corporations need is more, stricter laws, and more public funds devoted to enforcement of those laws. This is all about the battle for public opinion. CNN has a lot of potential to convice mr and mrs suburbanite that its time to GET TOUGH ON PIRACY, its costing the economy BILLIONS, and costing the American People Jobs and Prosperity. P2P in its current form is by no means guaranteed, for the simple reason that piracy is costing the corporations *big* money -- how long do you think the status quo is going to allow illegal activities to cost corporations millions of dollars? Who do you think has more influence in the halls of power -- the chairmen of the board of the Fortune 500, or a bunch of teenagers?!

I'm not saying that P2P will die, but I do think there is a distinct possibility in the medium-term that it will be crippled enough through laws that the corps will stop losing the majority of the money they're losing now. The network effect works both ways, so if you bust the "power pirates," the 20% of users that share 80% of the material, and publicize it, it'd be a vicious cycle of fewer people willing to take the chance, with less and less reason to bother, cuz fewer and fewer people are willing to take the chance...

sorry bout the rant, but its easy to forget that a lot of rich, smart, powerful people would like to wipe Kazaa off the face of the earth and never look back, and post-9/11, their ability to pass laws they used to have wet dreams about all of a sudden are possible. the p2p community needs to start thinking seriously about how to encrypt traffic en masse...

If people would stick to only trading Music we would not have this problem.

Heh..not necessarily just music, but brand-new-released movies and pornography are probably the biggest reasons why P2P is getting more notice. It's pretty difficult to justify "fair use" of a movie that isn't out on video/dvd yet.

things are quiet until hitler decides he'd like to invade russia
    so, he does
the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

The staffer performed a Google search to reach Kazaa, then once on Kazaa searched for Britney Spears. Hundreds of downloadable files then appeared on the screen.
Does this mean that Britney Spears is porn?

I kinda like the idea. :-)
