Thread: How To Install Kl On Windows 95

1. #1
Hi, all. I hope someone can help me, and that I'll be able to help others with something in future.

I've just reformatted my hard drive, and now I can't get Kazaalite to connect.

I'm using Windows 95. It was working fine before. In fact, I remember I had to install some extra little file to get it working with Windows 95. But now I can't remember what the file was

Can some kind person help me to Kazaalite working again? I don't have a firewall, and I'm quite sure the problem has to do with this missing file (whatever the heck it is).

I'm using klitekpp210b3. And it just won't connect now.

Thanks for the suggestions...I have installed W95ws2setup (which I believe is winsock. I also believe this is the file which got KL working for me originally).

But it seems to be no help this time I'm using a cable connection, so I'm not sure if it's necessary to do any update of dial-up networking (and seems impossible to get into Microsoft's website now, anyway).

Any more ideas, please?

i think its the drivers that count, not the actual dial-up part

Hi...yes, I think you're right. That's what I meant, also. But the wording of my post was poor :-(

Good show! I found and installed 1.7.2. And, sure enough, I'm connected again

Actually, the reason I hadn't tried an earlier version was because it says in the KL Faqs that only the latest versions work with win95:

"Does Kazaa Lite work on Windows 95?

Yes. Kazaa Lite 2.0.2 [K++ v2.0.2 Edition] should work on Windows 95. Any earlier versions require Windows 98 or higher."

Lucky for me, you knew better. Thanks again.
