Simple calculations ought to remedy the problem.
You noted that you were on ADSL - what speed? If you were to be on a 512Kbps service, you could potentially download at a rate of 64KB/s.
Let us assign 307.2MB of your 3072MB allowance for viewing web pages on a daily basis, downloading 10.24MB a day. That renders you with 2764.8MB of remaining bandwidth. That denotes approximately 4 DivX AVIs or a couple of games.
To prevent excessive usage, you could monitor your bandwidth with DU Meter.

3 GB/month is easily lower than what a good 56k can do.
I've downloaded about 750 MB of MP3 files in just 4 days on a 56k without being online all that time.
3 KB/sec constantly for 1 month would be about 7.5 GB/month.
Some 56k's can download faster than 5 KB/sec -- and this doesn't include bandwidth used UPLOADING as well!
What Vamp has doesn't DESERVE to be called broadband.
