theres a bitrate calc with the k lite codec pack but that doesnt tell me the recommended resolution size

The guide above says somewhere around 640, I suggested 720. Somewhere in that area is good. Just make sure to keep a good aspect ratio or it will be stretched. Bitrate should be somewhere around 1000 kbps.
