New Computer!

Well, I was also looking at this Compaq computer from bestbuy, but I was looking and think that the hp is a better and more powerful computer. What do you think?

Better. Graphics suck though, you couild buy a better video card and it will be faster and less money than the HP you showed.

Ok, is Quantispeed and Hyperthreading the same thing? So, which one of the 2 processors are better: AMD Athlon™ XP processor 3000+* with QuantiSpeed™ architecture and 400MHz frontside bus

or

Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Hyper-Threading
800 MHz Front side; Socket mPGA478

The 3000+ is only a little slower than the 2.8hz...not noticeably different...

The Hp has 800MHz Front side bus and the compaq has 400MHz Front side bus, isn&#39;t 800 better?

ay but the pentium 4 does less work at the higher speeds so the amd ends up being the same speed anyway.

Ok thanks for all your help. I think im going to go with the hp because the processor, memory, and front side bus. How much would I be able to overclock the Pentium 2.8 Ghz to. I heard you could overclock it to 3.2 Ghz and it still be stable, is this true?

Your going with the HP becuase the processor runs on a higher FSB.

well, no those arent the only reason, the hp seems to be a lot more upgradable and I like the Tv tuner capability.

It only has a 200 watt power supply. That is barely enough to run what&#39;s in the case already (not nearly enough in my opinion), any upgrade will take it over the top.

And last time I loooked HP machines don&#39;t take standard power supplies so that&#39;s not a good upgrade route either.

I can&#39;t say for sure about that particular pc, but I&#39;m pretty sure HP motherboards aren&#39;t good for OCing either.
