Well, I was also looking at this Compaq computer from bestbuy, but I was looking and think that the hp is a better and more powerful computer. What do you think?

Ok, is Quantispeed and Hyperthreading the same thing? So, which one of the 2 processors are better: AMD Athlon™ XP processor 3000+* with QuantiSpeed™ architecture and 400MHz frontside bus
or
Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Hyper-Threading
800 MHz Front side; Socket mPGA478

The Hp has 800MHz Front side bus and the compaq has 400MHz Front side bus, isn't 800 better?

ay but the pentium 4 does less work at the higher speeds so the amd ends up being the same speed anyway.Originally posted by Triadcool@9 July 2004 - 17:32

Ok thanks for all your help. I think im going to go with the hp because the processor, memory, and front side bus. How much would I be able to overclock the Pentium 2.8 Ghz to. I heard you could overclock it to 3.2 Ghz and it still be stable, is this true?

Your going with the HP becuase the processor runs on a higher FSB.Originally posted by Triadcool@10 July 2004 - 11:12

well, no those arent the only reason, the hp seems to be a lot more upgradable and I like the Tv tuner capability.

It only has a 200 watt power supply. That is barely enough to run what's in the case already (not nearly enough in my opinion), any upgrade will take it over the top.
And last time I loooked HP machines don't take standard power supplies so that's not a good upgrade route either.
I can't say for sure about that particular pc, but I'm pretty sure HP motherboards aren't good for OCing either.
