Last pics of my little friend.

Check out the colouration on the claw here, if you boil them, that's the pigment that comes out all over the shell:

Was fighting me a little bit, got hold of my thumb, he didn't get a good grip tho'.

Then I put him him a bucket.

Before I went off to release him, the lens is a little bit screwy so he looks really small here aww.

At the edge of where I released him, The little sucker got hold of a strand of grass and started flicking his tail nearly got me to drop him.

Best photo I got from there, he was struggling so much when I held him, that the other photos were of my shoes, the ground, or me when one of my brothers who came along tried taking a picture.

Hawt shoes:

(and btw, it may look pretty narrow here, but it gets bigger downstream, nice little rockbridge and all, passes a grave site from the iron age I think, pretty neat place.

And right before he went in I saw something splash in there, either a fish or a frog.

So I'm thinking that something is gonna' end up as dinner in there tonight.

I'm rooting for the crawfish, as that thing is built like a little tank. And he is a gepper.

I think they're freshwater rather than salt, aren't they?
Yeah, cause I was getting ready to say, we have them by our ponds, and lakes and such.

And btw, we call them crawfish here too.

Again, great pics and what a cool adventure the little guy's had. I think he'll be leaner, tougher and more popular thanks to his ordeal, tonight he'll regale the other yabbies with tales of gep.
I plan on beating him to death with his kids. I'll use them as a bludgeon on his face. -

--Good for them if they survive.

Errm, slight lapse of brain power, what do they breathe?

Ah wait, they breathe air I think, but need to keep the gills moist, so they need water too.

I did it right then

They breathe the disolved oxygen in the water, it's extracted by osmosis when it runs over the almost exposed blood vessels in the gills.

First live one I've ever seen, I really did find the little fellow kinda' charming.

And he looked damned cool. Pretty awesome the grip he had in those claws, I ended up pulling up that strand of grass instead of making him lose his grip

Sometime in the future I might get a big tank and keep some of his more exotic cousins, I know this pet store that keeps a few kinds.

And have some kind of fish-big brother broadcast live 24/7 using a webcam? Instead of evictions each week, how about the one with the least votes gets boiled?

As long as I've got a face
You've got a place to sit
