You got to have a listen to the early rocksteady jamaican stuff
Desmond Dekker, Toots and the Maytals, and Prince Buster
Prince Buster is great - tracks like 'Al Capone','Ten Commandments', 'Hard Man Fe Dead'
good stuff

I just put 'Ska' in the audio search in Kazaa - comes up with a fair bit. There's a lot of tracks from the Ska/Punk covers album - Ive heard some of these (couldnt tell you the name of the bands though) - they are real high energy Ska, a lot of fun.

please can someone explain what ska music is. I am aware it is a punky sorta thing and I actually met Spunge who apparantly are Ska, but still I wonder what exactly it is defined as. Sorry for my sillyness I just don't know.

Less Than Jake, The Skatalites, Madness, The Planet Smashers, The Hippos, Mad Caddies, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, Reel Big Fish (earlier stuff is better), Suburban Rhythm
Rocket From The Crypt, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Voodoo Glow Skulls are kind of "ska-core" i spose
