If it's wireless, yes. If it's wired; I don't think so. My speeds are just as fast as they were before I got a router and I am currently running 2-3 PCs online at a time; but it may be different to you.Originally Posted by TheCanuk

Try using http://tech.msn.com/products/speedtest.armx it's pretty good. I have Cable with a router and have reached speeds over 3000Kbps.
go to bandwidth place and test...its based on where you live rather than a fix location

@TheCanuk - How the fuck can you not know what price plan / connection you're on? Did you just throw darts at an ISP mag and choose the one you hit??
I suggest you stop looking at your Local Area Connection too, it's your NIC card capable speeds - listen to muchspl2 on that one.
Run a proper speed test that shows your speed in KB /Sec not kbps.
I also suggest ringing your ISP and telling them to charge you a little bit more because you wouldn't know otherwise
...or multiply KB/s by 8 to get Kb/s.
