has anyone seen "Stalingrad".....such a great movie about the war between Germans and Russians.
Also, Bridge over River Kwai is good.
    And, Schindler's List....awesome.

There is a movie called "The Longest Day" about the D-Day invasion of Europe. Great movie in that is had a huge cast and you got to see the Brits, the Yanks and the French resistance all in seperate scenes and it was one of the first movies to use long sweeping shots from a helicopter POV.

Reall far reaching flick, and you even get to see the various German personas and the movie maker focuses on the regular German Army types who knew they had been screwed over by Hitler.

Not on dvd I don't think yet, but I know it's on vhs.

My two favs would have to be Apocalypse Now (brilliant in every way) and A Thin Red Line (the cinematography is is extraordinary, and I can't remember his name, but that main guy did an excellent job in his role) B)
Thin Red Line is one of my favourite movies too and not just one of my favourite war movies.

I think I saw a verified for this movie somewhere, but unfortunately I forgot where.
But I do think it is out there somewhere.

P.S. Are you talking about Adrien Brody, who was also in The Pianist with another great performance, as I have heard?

Well of course my all time fave has to be Apocalypse Now Redux, since it was a very weird, very far reaching flick with some great performances. Hell just seeing Lawrence Fishburn at 15 is awesome.

Apocalypse Now and Platoon are by far the best in my opinion.
