Guess it depends what kind of job you want, not advisable if you are going into a job where you will be working with the public. Although I've worked in shops with bright purple hair and it was more of a conversation piece than a problem.

I always say im gonna grow mine out but in the end i only let it grow to my eyebrow, then i just shave it bald.

its about 5 inches long now and its pretty much uncontrollable. i can make it sort of afro-tised though.

what should i do?

That sounds like me and my hair. I put Non-lye relaxers in it that kinda helped (and didnt damage) and plus I dont put anything in my hair. No shampoo or conditioner. Just comb it. It makes me hair greasy but it also keeps it more controlled and less frizzy.

hair length within reason is not an aspect of the ability to get a job. Hair style may well be though.
