the only thing you can spead up is the browser....there are millions of registry tweaks for IE or you can get Firefox and get the tweaking program...
other than that theres is nothing you can do...except ofcouse get ADSL

I was on dial up for a while and could get at average about 80 meg in 4 hours
seriously they just don't work those programs
there are also reasons why people can't get ADSL

and Financial reasons
the number 1 thing is the most important
hav a look 64% of amerians are still on dial even
Australians here coz of Tel$tra only have about 25% its growing though
Tel$tra is whats letting it down not upgrading people off RIM lines unless they have there $30 a month bigpond bigshit service of 200 meg cap !!

nothing can help u if u r using dial-up
maybe try turning off modem compression(hardware) and turning on software compression, this should give better actual throughput speeds
