I think it goes back to when I had to go to school...
Those of us who believe in the concept of a "weekend" will note that it contains 2 days. Those being Saturday and Sunday.
This being the case, that Sunday is part of the weekend, it is difficult to see how it is the first day of the week.
However non-believers (aweekendists if you will) may see this differently
In fact you could say the weekend argument has weakened the alternative argument somewhat.
Only if your name is bigboab, who I believe is an aweekendist, so he is unlikely to.Originally Posted by barbarossa
Let us however illustrate it, by the use of a short play.
Playtime (recess) Friday afternoon. There is a general clamour in the background, a young girls screams, but in joy not in fear.
Tommy - Yo Bob Dude, respect.
Bob - Yo Tommy, my homeboy.
Tommy - Any plans for t'weekend.
Bob - Yup, it's puntsphere on Saturday then up to me nans for tea on Sunday.
The light dims to the sound of further joyful screams, a pigtail is being pulled.
I think that pretty much wraps this discussion up.

I'd beleive it was monday if calendars didn't have sunday as the first day of the week.
That just confuses me.
