I am in desperate need of a program that can recover software from a bust disk. Basically the mft has corrupted on one of my hard drives leaving just over 17Gb of avi. files stranded

I had ERDR recommended to me but I can't get to install on my computer. Can anyone help me out with a decent, free, disk recovery program please?

My mft died a while ago on my xp partition and left lots of little orphans

I solved it by booting up win2k on another partition. As it booted up, it ran an inconsistency check on the other drive, listed all orphaned files, and started to recover all of them it could find.

For some reason that managed to recover most of it (Might be 'cos win2k had them indexed already, in which case it won't help you, sorry )

Some files ended up corrupted though.

I grabbed a heap of recovery tools for my uncle's neighbor's computer a while back.
Like ontrack easy cd recovery and the winternals thingie.

I can link you to easyrecovery, but I dunno' how good that is.

EDit: made you a thread JUST IN CASE.

Ontrack EasyRecovery™ Professional is the best.
